Relative Pronouns

Relative pronouns connect a clause to a noun or pronoun. They include:

• which: used for objects or animals.
• who: used for people.
• when: refers to time.
• where: refers to place.

THAT: can replace who, which, or when. It can also replace where, but a preposition must be added at the end of the sentence.

Prepositions in Relative Clauses

If the relative clause contains a verb that is associated with a specific preposition, the preposition is usually placed at the end of the clause.

When the preposition refers to a place, you can use:

• where (without a preposition)
• that or which (with the preposition at the end)

Past Simple (Pasado Simple)

• Afirmativo: Sujeto + verbo en pasado (terminación -ed en verbos regulares)
• Negativo: Sujeto + did + not + verbo en infinitivo

Past Continuous (Pasado Continuo)

Los países hispanoamericanos estuvieron durante tres siglos unidos a la monarquía española. En 1898, las últimas colonias alcanzaron la independencia. A lo largo del siglo XX, muchos de los países hispanoamericanos han sufrido regímenes dictatoriales, revoluciones y contrarrevoluciones, lo que ha provocado una gran inestabilidad política y ha mermado su bienestar económico. Las dictaduras militares, la pobreza generalizada y la defensa de la independencia económica y cultural son problemas que aparecen reflejados en casi todas las obras de los autores hispanoamericanos del siglo XX.

1. El Complement Directe (CD)

El complement directe (CD) se substitueix per pronoms febles segons la seva naturalesa:

CD de Primera o Segona Persona

Si el CD és de primera o de segona persona, serà substituït pels pronoms me, nos, te, vos:

• 1a persona: em, m’, ‘m, -me / ens, ‘ns, -nos
• 2a persona: et, t’, ‘t, -te / us, -vos

Exemples:

• El professor sempre em mira.
• Estic segur que ens estima.

CD Determinat (Nom Propi, Article, Demostratiu, Possessiu)
