El present perfect se usa en el idioma inglés para narrar hechos que ya han ocurrido en un momento, específico o no, en el pasado pero que siguen teniendo una relevancia en el presente.

Corresponde en su estructura con el pretérito perfecto en español, es decir, el verbo se construye con el verbo auxiliar have o has si es en tercera persona singular (he, she, it), más el participio del verbo: sujeto + have/has + verbo en participio pasado, pero no siempre en su uso: I have been married for two years. (Llevo casado dos años.).

Afirmativo

• I have eaten an apple. (Me he comido una manzana.)
• He has bought a car. (Él ha comprado un coche.)

Negativo

• I've never been to Salamanca. (Nunca he estado en Salamanca.)
• I haven't finished

Expresión de Hábitos en el Pasado

1. Used to + infinitivo

• Se utiliza para hábitos o estados del pasado que ya no son ciertos en el presente.
• Ejemplo: I used to play football.
• Posee forma negativa e interrogativa: Did you use to…? / I didn't use to...

2. Would

• Se emplea para acciones repetidas en el pasado (hábitos de comportamiento).
• Es más común en contextos narrativos y posee un tono más formal.
• Importante: No se utiliza para estados (verbos estáticos).
• Ejemplo: Every summer we would travel to the coast.

3. Past Simple

• También puede expresar hábitos o estados pasados de forma general.
• A diferencia de las anteriores, no enfatiza la repetición ni el hecho de que la acción haya cesado.
• Ejemplo: We went there every summer.

Reported Speech (Estil Indirecte)

S'utilitza per explicar què ha dit algú sense repetir literalment les seves paraules. Quan el verb introductori està en passat (he said, she told me...), els temps verbals canvien, i també alguns pronoms i paraules de temps/lloc.

Canvis Verbals Habituals

• Present simple → Past simple
  • "I go to school" → He said he went to school
  • (Ex: don't → didn't)
• Present continuous → Past continuous
  • "I am studying" → She said she was studying
• Past simple → Past perfect
  • "I saw her" → He said he had seen her
• Present perfect → Past perfect
  • "I haven't seen you before" → He said he hadn't seen me before
• Will → Would
  • "I will go" → She said she would go
• Can → Could
• Must → Had to
• May → Might
