1. Essay: The Impact of Mobile Phones in Modern Society

Nowadays, mobile phones are essential in our society; more than 70% of the Spanish population has one or more than one mobile device. This reality entails both positive and negative consequences.

On the one hand, I believe that a mobile phone is something truly necessary because you can communicate with people who live far away or whom you cannot meet in person. In addition, these devices possess technology that offers the possibility of searching for information, streaming series, or accessing whatever content you want at any given time.

On the other hand, although they represent a great technological advance, they have caused face-to-face social life to decrease significantly. A clear example is that the majority of children do not meet outdoors as often; instead, they interact through WhatsApp. Furthermore, excessive phone use could lead to an unhealthy obsession in which people feel they cannot live without their screens.

In conclusion, mobile phones are wonderful tools, but we should not turn them into a way of life; rather, we should use them wisely to help improve our daily lives.

2. Personal Narrative: An Experience That Changed My Life

In our lives, we learn every single day. Every event carries its own importance and consequences; yet, there are pivotal moments that permanently reshape our daily routines.

One such crucial event in my cousin's life occurred when he assisted a neighbour who suddenly fell severely ill. As he was walking past the neighbour’s house, he heard a loud noise that sounded like a scream. In fact, the neighbour had suffered a heart attack, and at that time, I was only twelve years old.

My cousin quickly ran inside the house, and seeing the man collapsed on the floor, immediately called for help. He contacted his parents right away to rush the neighbour to the hospital. The medical staff later confirmed that a tragic outcome could have occurred had there been any further delay.

Inspired by that decisive moment, my cousin is now a qualified doctor. That single afternoon, experienced when he was just twelve, set his life purpose in motion and transformed our perspective for the better.

3. Informal Letter: Catching Up with a Friend

Dear Taylor,

How are you? I am truly sorry I haven’t written much over these past few months, but I’ve been extremely busy. I am thrilled to hear that you have already graduated—huge congratulations!

Last Saturday, some friends and I went to the local Science Fair. The venue was quite loud and vibrant, and we had the chance to see a great variety of impressive projects. My favourite was an intricate dissection; the participants carried it out with remarkable professionalism, clearly demonstrating their thorough training.

To be completely honest, however, the final outcome felt unfair. There were far superior exhibits, and I personally find it questionable to compete in a contest organized by one's own father. Most attendees openly disagreed with the judge, who was supposed to be completely impartial and skilled.

Anyway, it is time for me to get back to studying. Please write back soon and let me know if you are visiting anytime soon—I can’t wait to see you again!

Lots of love,

Your friend, Raquel
