Uso de los Verbos Modales en Inglés

En el idioma inglés, los verbos modales expresan diferentes grados de probabilidad. May se utiliza para algo probable, mientras que might indica que algo es menos probable. Por ejemplo: It may be sunny this afternoon. It might get cloudy.

Verbos Modales de Habilidad

Los modal verbs de habilidad son can, could y be able to:

• Can: Se utiliza para el tiempo presente. Ejemplo: I can swim very well.
• Could: Se utiliza para el tiempo pasado. Ejemplo: I could read when I was four.
• Be able to: Se utiliza para el tiempo futuro. Ejemplo: I’ll be able to drive a car next year.

Posibilidad y Certeza

Para expresar grados de posibilidad y certeza, se pueden emplear los siguientes verbos: could, might, may, must y can’t.

Uso del Presente Continuo

Utilizamos el presente continuo para hablar de:

• Acciones que están sucediendo en el instante en el que estamos hablando: I'm sitting at my desk (escritorio) at the moment.
• Situaciones temporales: My sister's studying in Brighton.
• Planes futuros (acordados): They are opening a new shop next week.

Diferencia con el Castellano

A diferencia del castellano, no se puede usar el presente simple en este caso para planes futuros:

• Do you want (quieres) to go shopping tomorrow? No, I can't.

Verbos que Normalmente No Utilizan el Presente Continuo (Verbos Estáticos)

Estos verbos describen estados, no acciones, y generalmente se usan en presente simple.

Verbos que describen sentimientos:

• like, love, hate (odio), want, prefer.

Les consonants es classifiquen segons la seva sonoritat, el lloc d'articulació i el mode d'articulació.

Sonoritat Consonàntica

La sonoritat permet distingir aquelles consonants que s'articulen amb vibració de les cordes vocals, anomenades sonores, d'aquelles altres en què no es produeix aquesta vibració i que reben el nom de sordes.

Lloc d'Articulació de les Consonants

El lloc d'articulació és el punt en què es produeix l'obstacle a la sortida de l'aire. Els tipus consonàntics principals són:

• Bilabials: Pel contacte o acostament dels llavis inferior i superior.
• Labiodentals: Pel contacte lleuger del llavi inferior i les dents incisives superiors.
