Walter Hartright, is an art teacher, one day in London Walter encounters a mysterious woman in white. The next day he traveled to Limmeridge House, to be a teacher of drawing of the house, in the house there is your friend that is a professor of Italian language called Pesca. In the house is a man named Frederick Fairlie. Walter students are: Laura Fairlie, uncle of Laura Fairlie and Marian Halcombe Frederick, who is half-sister Laura, is a very intelligent girl. Marian Walter advised to leave Limmeridge House. Anne writes a card to Laura against Sir Percival Glyde. Laura and Sir Percival Glyde are married and go to Italy. Walter leaves England. Laura and Sir Percival Glyde return from Italy and are accompanied by a friend of Glyde that is called Count Fosco. While Marian was sick, Laura travels to London then changed the identity of Laura and Anne. And then Anne Catherick dies of heart disease. When recovered Marian visit to Anne and finds Laura. Walter returns to Limmeridge and Walter is find Marian and Laura. Walter discovers the secret of Sir Percival. Walter goes to church and discover that the marriage of the parents of Sir Percival is false his parents never married. And not entitled to Blackwater Park. Sir Percival can go to jail and wants to destroy the false page of the church. Because of an accidental fire, Sir Percival dies. And finally Walter, marries with Laura, and after the death of his uncle, Frederick Fairlie, inherits Limmeridge.
