Part 3: Written Production (Writing)
Task 1: Informal Email to a Relative
Hi Aunt Tina,
How are you? I hope you're doing well. I'm writing to tell you about my exciting exchange trip to Verona next month! I'm a bit nervous but also really happy.
We're going to stay with an Italian boy called Ivan Sanchez. I don't know anything about him yet, only his name, so I'm curious about his family and his house. The school has prepared lots of activities for us. During the four days, we'll visit famous places like Juliet's House and the ancient arena. We're also going to try real Italian pizza and gelato, which I'm very excited about!
In the mornings, we'll attend some lessons at their school to see how different it is from ours. We'll also do group activities with the Italian students, so I hope my English is good enough to communicate. I think it'll be a great opportunity to practise and make new friends.
Anyway, I think that's all for now. I don't want to write a whole novel! I'm afraid I have to go now because I'm packed with exams, and I need to hit the books if I want to enjoy summer. Maths is not my cup of tea, so I must work harder if I want to pass.
Drop me a line to let me know what you're up to!
Lots of love,
Aitor Rodríguez
Task 2: Formal Letter of Application
To the Hiring Team,
Wildlife Rescue Centre in South Africa
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to apply for the volunteer position at the Wildlife Rescue Centre, which I saw advertised on a volunteer website. My name is Aitor Rodríguez and I am a 17-year-old student from Spain.
I would really like to participate in this programme because I have always loved animals and I care deeply about their welfare. I think this experience would be amazing and would help me learn more about wildlife conservation while doing something useful.
Although I do not have professional experience with wild animals, I have a dog at home and I help take care of him every day. I am responsible, patient, and hard-working. I also get on well with people, so I believe I could assist with educational activities too. At school, we study biology in English, so my level of English is quite good.
I am available to stay for four weeks during next summer, from July 1st to July 29th. I hope this timeframe is suitable for your needs.
Thank you for considering my application. I would be delighted to hear from you soon.
Yours faithfully,
Aitor Rodríguez
