Reported Speech: Estilo Indirecto

  • Present Simple → Past Simple
  • am/is/are → was/were
  • can → could

Ejemplos:

  • Directo: "I like pizza." → Indirecto: He said (that) he liked pizza.
  • Directo: "We are tired." → Indirecto: They said they were tired.

2. Reported Commands (Órdenes e instrucciones)

Para transmitir una orden o petición, utilizamos tell o ask + to + verbo. En órdenes negativas, empleamos not to + verbo.

Ejemplos:

  • Directo: "Open the window, please." → Indirecto: He asked me to open the window.
  • Directo: "Don't touch my phone!" → Indirecto: She told me not to touch her phone.

3. Reported Questions (Preguntas)

Usamos ask y el orden de la oración cambia a una estructura afirmativa (sujeto + verbo).

A) Yes/No Questions

Se conectan mediante la partícula if.

  • Directo: "Do you like music?" → Indirecto: He asked me if I liked music.
  • Directo: "Are you hungry?" → Indirecto: She asked if I was hungry.

B) Wh- Questions (What, Where, When, Why, Who...)

Se mantiene la misma palabra interrogativa original.

  • Directo: "Where do you live?" → Indirecto: He asked me where I lived.
  • Directo: "What is your name?" → Indirecto: She asked what my name was.

⚠ Cambio de pronombres

Los pronombres (I, you, my, your, we...) deben adaptarse según quién sea el emisor del mensaje.

  • Directo: "I have my car." → Indirecto: Carlos said he had his car.
  • Directo: "We are happy." → Indirecto: They said they were happy.
