Introduction to Bethany Cook
First of all, I’m going to talk about the life of my new friend Bethany Cook. She was born on the 19th of October 1991 in Middlesbrough in the north of England. Her parents are called Andrew Cook and Jan Cook. She has a brother named Gareth, who is 4 years older than her. Bethany is a very pretty girl, has blonde hair, blue eyes, and white skin. Her first vacation away from England was in Menorca when she was 5 years old, and she told me that this was the first and only time her body has been tanned.
Early Years and Hockey Career
Since she was 7, she started playing hockey for Middlesbrough RHC and she remained there for 11 years. She started playing hockey because she loved to skate, as did her brother, and they both enjoy the sport. She is a great player and she started playing with the England national team at age 12, but she was too young to play in the competition, so they had to wait a year until she was 13 years old.
She has played in all competitions since then:
- Three world championships
- Three European Championships
- Four under-20 European championships
She has been in Japan and Chile with hockey, and she has been the under-20 captain for the past 3 years.
Move to Spain and Future Goals
An important fact and the reason why she has come to Spain this year is because the level of hockey in England is not very good. When she was 10 years old, she came to a hockey camp in Blanes, where she saw a much higher level of hockey. Also, the first time she played for the England team in 2005, she saw how good the level of hockey was. Since then, she has wanted to play hockey in Spain because she wants to be a better player. She also wanted to learn Spanish, and the best way to learn is to go to the country.
She is destined to go to college in England next year to study "sport and exercise science with psychology," but if she likes Arenys this year and the club still wants her to play, she would prefer to stay here for a little more. Finally, the life she wants is to be a physical education teacher. She would love to go to India, Thailand, and Australia.
Conclusion
In conclusion, she is a wonderful person and also she's a very good hockey player. Since she arrived in Spain from England, I have had a good relationship with her, and she has proven to be a friend for life. Because hockey is joining us for life, and although next year she might leave, the players of Arenys de Munt will never forget her.
