Commonly Used Terms

Accuse: To formally charge someone with a crime. Example: He was accused of theft.

Charge: To formally accuse someone of a crime. Example: The police charged him with murder.

Angry: Feeling or showing strong displeasure or hostility. Example: She was angry at him for lying.

Cold-hearted: Lacking empathy or compassion. Example: The cold-hearted criminal showed no remorse.

Arrest: To take someone into custody for breaking the law. Example: The police arrested the suspect at the scene.

Convict: To find someone guilty of a crime in a court of law. Example: He was convicted of assault.

Aware: Having knowledge or perception of something. Example: Were you aware of the risks involved?

Tiempos verbales en inglés

Presente simple

Acciones con frecuencia, hábitos, rutina. Situaciones permanentes. Verdades absolutas. Para horarios de transportes.

Ejemplo: I play tennis.

Estructura:

• +: Sujeto + Infinitivo + Complemento (3ª persona del singular se le añade -s, -es, -ies).
• -: Sujeto + don't o doesn't + Infinitivo + Complemento.
• ?: Do, Does + Sujeto + Infinitivo + Complemento.

Presente continuo

Acciones en el momento de hablar, momento concreto. Acciones de un futuro cercano.

Ejemplo: I am working today.

Estructura:

• +: Sujeto + To Be (am, are, is) + Verbo + ing + Complemento.
• -: Sujeto + To Be (am not, aren't, isn't) + Verbo + ing + Complemento.
• ?: To Be (am, are, is) + Sujeto + Verbo + ing + Complemento.

Comparativos y Superlativos de Adverbios en Inglés

Con los adverbios terminados en -ly, se utiliza more para formar el comparativo y most para formar el superlativo.

En el caso de adverbios cortos que no terminan en -ly, las formas comparativas y superlativas son idénticas a los adjetivos: se añade -er para formar el comparativo y -est para formar el superlativo. Si el adverbio termina en e, se elimina esta última vocal antes de añadir la terminación.

Salud:

• Injured: herido
• A temperature: fiebre
• Disabled: discapacitado
• Poisonous: venenoso
• Allergic: alérgico
• Painful: doloroso
• Exhausted: agotado, cansado
• Fatal: mortal
• Dizzy: mareado
• Deaf: sordo
• Blind: ciego
• Wound: herida

Modales:

• Should/shouldn´t: aconsejar (deberías, no deberías)
• Need to/needn´t to: no hace falta
• Must: tienes/negativa es: don´t have to/futuro es: i will have to.
• Can/could: poder/futuro es: i will be able to
• May/might: lo mismo que can pero más formal (podría)
• Would/negativa es wouldn´t: es para el condicional (podría)
• Will: future
