English Perspective
Aristotle was a Greek philosopher, a disciple of Plato, and the teacher of Alexander the Great. Together with Plato and Socrates, Aristotle is one of the most important founding figures in Western philosophy.
He wrote the first treatise on ethics, in which he explains the moral behavior of human beings. He attests that the aim of all deliberate action is eudaimonia, generally translated as happiness or well-being. To have the potential of always being happy, it requires a good character, often translated as moral virtue.
