1. App Review: Snapchat and Houseparty
Two great websites/apps I would recommend are Snapchat and Houseparty. I use Houseparty to talk to my friends and I use Snapchat to take pictures and send them to my friends.
Houseparty is an app that at first sight only allows you to talk to your friends by video call. But in that video call, you can play different games among all participants.
The application has a limit of participants in the call, and users receive a notification when their friends are online and available for a group video call.
Snapchat is an app that lets you take pictures with different filters. Apart from taking pictures, you can also send them to your friends by chat. When you take a photo, you can save it in your mobile phone gallery to keep it or pass it to a friend who doesn't have this app.
In my opinion, these two apps are very entertaining, and I recommend them because they allow you to communicate with your friends when you are not around or you cannot see each other.
2. Application Letter: Festival Information Desk
Dear Mr Bennett,
I am writing in response to your advertisement looking for English-speaking people to help at the festival’s information desk.
I am a fifteen-year-old student, I live in Bilbao, I have been studying English for seven years and I speak it very well. In fact, I use English regularly to communicate with the people around me, as they are from abroad. I have played many roles and last year I took part in a few productions in the theatre in my city and in the surrounding areas, so I have some experience as an actress. I also worked as a volunteer two years ago.
I think I would be a good choice for the festival information desk because I am a friendly, hard-working, helpful, enthusiastic and motivated person. I am always willing to help anyone who needs it.
I hope you will consider me for the position.
Yours sincerely,
Ainara Bilbao
3. Informal Letter to Simon
Hi Simon,
Good to hear from you, hope to see you in a few weeks. I can't wait!
You asked about where I live. Well, my house is in Berango, a village next to Getxo. There is not much to do here; it takes ten minutes to walk to the centre of the village. My neighbourhood is very active when there are football matches or training sessions, but normally it is a quiet and boring neighbourhood. My school is in another village; it takes twenty minutes by car, but it is more convenient to use public transport, which leaves you almost at the door of the school.
You also asked for a gift for my family, which is very kind of you. I'm sure we will love whatever you bring us, but I have a suggestion: it would be great if you could bring us something typical from your country because my family loves to have things from different places.
You can email me if you want more information. Can’t wait to see you.
Bye for now!
